Thankful For the Small Stuff

Sunlight, peeking

through cloudless skies.

Later, sunset.

Air dancing across my skin,

heart racing, greedy for oxygen.

Quads burning, calves tightening; summiting,

long draws of water.

Strapping on shoes, clicking into pedals,

the first push-off of each ride.

Tucking behind handlebars,

along open roads.

Long shadows, followed by

star-filled night skies.

Post-ride mega-salads.

Camaraderie.

Give gratitude. Shower praise.

Say “thank you.”

Kiss loved ones.

Acknowledge blessings.

This Thanksgiving, may we find contentment in the smallest details.
